As an Uxbridge Wedding photographer, it’s always nice to get out into the countryside and explore further afield. This wedding I have for you today is a beautiful countryside affair and was a photography dream come true for me.
Francesca and Richard’s wedding was all about their love and the destination – Francesca’s family home, on top of Cleeve Hill in Gloucestershire. Having been born at home she says “It was only right that I was married from home too”, and I felt very honoured that they asked me to photograph their beautiful day.
I have known Francesca since she was about 8 years old as I am good friends with her elder sister. Francesca studied event management when she was at university and she is extremely stylish with wonderful taste, so when she told me about her wedding plans, I knew she and Richard would transform her parent’s garden into something special, and I wasn’t wrong!! When I walked in & was greeted by bunting, tea lights, pompoms and a giant pallet bar (all made by family!!) I think I may have let out a little squeal of delight!! I loved that they got really stuck in to create a wedding totally unique to them. Both Francesca, Richard and all their family & friends helped to bring this wedding together to make it so very special. I can honestly say that I have never witnessed such a heartfelt and beautiful wedding day as theirs.
Their whole day was a complete family affair, everyone did their bit to help out! Francesca’s sister made the bridesmaid’s dresses, her mum the cake (which Francesca decorated the morning of the wedding!) her aunts arranged the flowers, a family friend made all the bouquets and button holes, and a best friend made cupcakes to go with the cake.
The weather kept us on our toes as it rained on and off all morning, but at the very last minute it stopped long enough for the bride to arrive at the church without getting rained on. Francesca and Richard promised themselves to each other in front of all their loved ones in Winchcombe’s beautiful Cotswold village church. It was a beautiful and moving ceremony conducted by a family friend.
After the ceremony, the reception on Cleeve Hill began. The marquee looked amazing, filled with beautifully styled tables, a fabulous banner behind the top table and a fun-filled table for all the children to sit at. Francesca, Richard and their families had spent many a weekend planning all the beautiful details of the wedding day, including looking through charity shops for all the china and champagne glasses which gave the tables a beautiful vintage style. During the drinks reception Richard’s uncle and cousins sang and played guitar, whilst the children were entertained with bouncy space hoppers and garden games.
The fun, relaxed party atmosphere continued into the late afternoon where they all sat down to enjoy a hog-roast as well as some delicious salmon cooked by the groom’s father. The sun broke through the clouds just as the wedding breakfast ended and we dashed to the top of Cleeve Hill for some Bride and Groom photos as the sun was lowering in the sky.
The whole day really did take my breath away and I was so glad to be a part of it all, they really are a match made in heaven and I have decided I just love back garden weddings, there is something so incredibly intimate and personal about them. Here are some of my favourite photos…
Congratulations Francesca and Richard on your stunning wedding day and I wish you many years of happiness together.
